About the event
Join us & learn about kombucha from Sarah Judd of Meadow Lynn Market Garden. We will learn what kombucha is and how it can benefit your health as well as how to take care of your SCOBY*, how to brew your own kombucha at home, continuous brewing for easy drinking and more! You will be able to try different drinks and snacks that you can make with kombucha, receive a brewing instructions booklet and take home your very own starter kit.
*A SCOBY, or "Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast," is the living culture used to ferment tea into kombucha. The SCOBY forms a rubbery, pancake-like layer on top of the tea during fermentation, feeding on sugar and transforming the tea into a probiotic-rich, tangy drink. SCOBYs are essential to the fermentation process, as they house beneficial bacteria and yeast that produce the acids, vitamins, and carbonation kombucha is known for. SCOBYs can be reused across multiple batches of kombucha, and each brew typically grows a new SCOBY layer, which can be shared, stored, or used to make new batches.
